Colon and Rectal

If you are experiencing any problems related to the colon or have been diagnosed with colon cancer or Crohn’s disease, you may need to see one of our colon and rectal specialists for im-mediate treatment. We perform a number of procedure and therapies for conditions including colitis and hemorrhoids. Patients diagnosed with cancer of the colon may need a combination of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. We can review all of your treatment options and the latest procedures available during your consultation.

Colitis

Chronic inflammation of the colon and rectum can cause ulcerative colitis, a condition that indi-cates a problem with the immune system in the gastrointestinal tract. Surgery that involves re-moving the colon, the rectum, or both the colon and rectum, may be necessary to eliminate symptoms. Lifestyle changes such as eating certain foods and reducing stress that triggers flare-ups may also be effective solutions for some patients.

Colorectal Cancer

Since the early stages of colorectal cancer may not cause any symptoms, it is important for pa-tients to undergo a cancer screening to detect any abnormalities or issues. We treat various stages of colorectal cancer using a multi-disciplinary approach. The method of treatment will depend on the stage of cancer you are in and other factors.

Crohn’s Disease

This form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is identified by large sores or ulcers along the intestinal wall and bowels. In some cases, the diseases can travel to other parts of the body. Treatment options may include surgery, changes in the diet, medication, and lifestyle changes.

Hemorrhoids

Severe cases of hemorrhoids that have not responded well to topical treatments and other more conservative treatments may require surgery. Hemorrhoid surgery is a relatively simple proce-dure performed on an outpatient basis.

If you have any of these conditions, come in and see one of our colon and rectal specialists as soon as possible. We can determine what type of treatment will be most appropriate for you based on your symptoms and current state of health. Schedule your appointment today.
